True Religion (Verdict: True Jeans!)

Since we added the links for tips the response has been overwhelming. We’ve had requests to reviews restaurants, bags, clothes, gadgets, and everything else that you could imagine. The most popular clothing request by far and away has been for denim. You guys want to know what we think is the hottest denim. We’ve had requests for brands; we’ve had requests for comparisons between companies, and we’ve even had companies contact us asking us to review their denim.

So, to kick off what will definitely become a staple on Spungle.com, we bring you the most highly requested denim. We’re sure you won’t be surprised to learn that we’re talking about True Religion!

True Religion is a company that has taken the nation, the world, and the red carpet by storm since their inception in 2002. This husband and wife team may be based in LA, but they have a style and flair that travels to the hottest of clubs and scenes and accentuates the hottest celeb derrières. To say that they are a leader in the denim market would be an understatement; they are simply on fire! This is why they are the kick off to Spungle denim reviews.

For this review, we took a look at the traditional “Bobby” style denim. This is one of their original designs which has a generous boot cut and a great all around fit. We chose this style because we wanted to get a strong introduction to True Religion and start with the basics.

Reviewing jeans is a lot harder than you think—and a lot more expensive than you’d think, too! To adequately review these jeans, we tested these jeans in the best way possible. After having our jeans hemmed by our favorite local cleaners, we subjected these dynamo-denims to 40+ wash/dry cycles in my apartment building’s antiquated washing machine. We must say that we never used the drier and that we only used “Tide with a Touch of Downy” liquid detergent.

The result? These jeans look better than day 1! The fibers between the holes have solidified as either ripped or retained, the jean has gained a broken in feel, the total loss of length was between ¼ and ½ of an inch, and the pockets are much more useable than when we received them. Just for note, the back pockets have little strings on the inside from the embroidery, so washing actually causes them to get permanently stuck or deteriorate- leaving you with a nice, clean easy to use rear pocket.

We have to say, we’re amazed! We found these jeans to not just be a product of good PR, but truly an awesome product. We’ve worn them for over a month, washed them more than you probably will in the course of a year, and really cannot say one negative thing about a jean that costs more than we’d ever like to spend on a pair of jeans. These jeans are proof that you get what you pay for—high cost lends to high quality and True Religion is nothing but high quality graced with high style!
